Teaching Your Son About Sex Education
Growing up in today’s world is far different then it was when you grew up, or even when your parents grew up. It is filled with more wonders thanks to technology but it is also filled with more dangers. When it comes to sex, that same pattern holds true, except that women now outnumber men 2 to 1. Women also dress more provocatively and sex is almost as open as it was in the late sixties, early seventies. This makes it all the more important to give your son the facts and teach him all about sex education yourself.
Typically young men learn the basic in school. A Health class gives the basic birds and the bee’s speech, attempting to scare the kids with diseases, pregnancy and how it can affect the rest of their lives. This doesn’t stop kids from doing it though or we would have far fewer pregnant teenagers. So a talk with dad is the most important, to hear from the one man in his life that he looks up to and will model against, whether he likes you at the moment or not.
While there are always the basics that can be spoken about, including how to put on a condom and to be mindful of always using protection. While still a little uncomfortable to talk about, it needs to be done. Kids will ask questions and some of those will be hard to handle. This is where you need to decide how far you want to teach your son. Do you want to give him pointers and teach him what has worked for you? He might be interested or grossed out. A favorite uncle could be good for this conversation if you trust that he is going to teach your son the right way.
Sex can be the key to a happy marriage so teaching him how to do things would benefit him. The key is that you need to teach him to communicate with his partner so he understands the body language when they are messing around. If they like to be touched in a certain way, caressed and even licked in the right area can lead to orgasm, and even multiple orgasms. As tough as it might be to say, it can be hard for him to listen to as well. Ultimately you will be teaching him these things so he can have happy relationships, until he meets the right partner for him. And then he will appreciate the fact that a happy wife gives him a happy life.
